For years, I traded the industrial workbench for the garden. I found a deep respect for a resource that literally grows through what it goes through. Plants taught me a rhythm dictated not by my own output, but by their response to the climatic pressures of the world we inhabit.

Modernity moves fast, but it’s given us the perfect tools to capture our resilience. I leant into using the multi-lens technology in our pockets to do the opposite of what is typically expected. Rather than facilitating a fast-paced digital life, these tools allow me to stop, document, and distil nature into a dynamic of subsistence with substance.

Today, I treat the digital realm as a new kind of ecosystem. I used photography captured during my time in the gardens as a raw material to learn off and get my eye in. The flowers I tended, the pets that kept my clients company and the native birds that provided the sounds of nature were the original go to. By stripping these images down to their luminescence data, I am looking for the Lock and Key moment. This is a form of simplified line art that fits the brain's pattern recognition which allows you to relive a core memory.

My goal is to digitally amalgamate a naturalised platform in a way that reimagines screen-bound pixels, delivering them in a significantly more mindful and grounded medium. Transforming the digital noise of modernity into something tangible is a significant endeavour, but I have always believed that the most rewarding work comes from the willingness to explore an unconventional path.
